Exhaustive Scenario Analysis: What Risk Managers Can Learn From Pilots

What can CROs learn from airline pilots? Quite a bit. Pilots have to know how to take their plane to safety no matter what. In training, they need to familiarize themselves with all possible situations, so when they’re flying passengers or cargo for real, they’re ready for anything – including the unexpected. Were risk managers to do something similar – employing a multi-pronged approach that includes both contingency planning and direct and reverse scenarios – they’d be safer, too. Just because you don’t know what might fly your way, doesn’t mean you can’t be prepared. To learn how, check out Alla Gil’s latest GARP column, which you can read here.
